In most conversations with atheists and on most atheist blog posts, they claim to take the intellectual high ground as opposed to a “faith” based understanding of the world. They frown upon any sense of theism and like to say that science has disproved God many times over. Atheism naturalism is the more intellectual position they say.
To them, society is a much better place because of that and works better than worshiping some ancient god who has an ego problem.
So, Whattaya Do?
My question to them is: what is intelligence on atheistic naturalism?
If your brain is just churning out thoughts, or having chemical reactions based on the laws of physics, what is intelligence and how is it measured?
On that view, your brain is just barfing with the result being your thoughts!
There is no immaterial self making rational decisions because rationality is not part of naturalism!
In fact, atheistic naturalism is the least intellectual position out of all the possible world views because there is no actual thinking going on! Your brain is no different than a kid pouring vinegar into baking soda to make his science project volcano erupt! Your thoughts are just chemical reactions erupting out of your brain just like the model volcano.
On their view, you don’t control your thoughts, your body does!
So far from making their case, their view actually proves the opposite. And, if our brains are just the product of time plus chance acting on matter, why would I trust it in the first place?
