Atheists often accuse Christians of circular reasoning when they quote the bible or use the bible in their arguments for God’s existence.  The atheist dialog goes something like this: you say that the bible is God’s word because the bible says it’s God’s word.  Your reasoning is circular since the statement you’re trying to prove is derived from the very book you haven’t proved yet.  Therefore your logic is circular and without merit, and I will dismiss it as fallacious.

 

Sounds correct, but can the bible be dismissed so quickly?

 

No, all argumentation must revert back to an ultimate authority.  Even the atheist must rely on some self-verifying source for his statements of truth.  Hence, there can be only one ultimate authority, and only one source of absolute truth.  As Christians, we know this authority to be God and His word.  The atheistic worldview falls apart and defeats itself when examined under the same line of questioning.

 

We can learn a lot by asking pointed questions aimed at exposing the root and foundation of other worldviews.

 

  So, Whattaya do?  Ask a question!

 

              Take the atheists logic and use it on his own position!

When the rubber hits the road, you either have the unchanging God as your ultimate authority, or the subjective reasoning and ever-changing mind of man as your authority.
